Prohibited
All prohibited domestic items are also forbidden from being shipped internationally. In some cases, items that are excluded from being shipped internationally are allowed to be shipped domestically, with some restrictions imposed.
Mailing restrictions apply to all HAZARDOUS, RESTRICTED, and PERISHABLE materials. A hazardous material is any object or substance elected by the U.S. Department of Transportation as being capable of posing an excessive risk to health, safety, or property during transportation. In international commerce, hazardous materials are referred to as “dangerous goods.” For further information on hazardous goods, please refer to Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by United Nations.
Restricted material includes articles on which mailing restrictions have been enforced for reasons other than risk of harm to people or properties involved in transporting the mail. Motor vehicle master keys and intoxicating liquors are some examples of restricted items.
Perishable article is anything that can deteriorate in the mail and, as a result, lose value, pose a health hazard, or cause an intolerable odor, irritation, or disturbance, under standard mailing conditions. In some cases, mailed perishable matter can be sent at the mailer’s own risk when it is packaged safely and securely, and when it can be delivered within the appropriate and reasonable time frame to avoid deterioration. Postagemaker.com does not guarantee that perishable matters will be delivered safely and securely.
