GlobalPost Plus 101 International delivery can be quite costly, and a lot of people are looking for ways to save on international shipping without compromising reliability. GlobalPost Plus is one of relatively affordable yet reliable international shipping solutions. Let’s take a closer look at GlobalPost Plus and its advantages compared to other international shipping options.

What Is GlobalPost?

GlobalPost is a subsidiary of Auctane (formerly known as Stamps.com), an American company providing Internet-based mailing and shipping services. Other brands in the Auctane family include Endicia, Metapack, Packlink, ShipEngine, ShipStation, ShipWorks, ShippingEasy, Shipsi, and Stamps.com.

The main focus of GlobalPost is providing international shipping solutions for small and medium-sized retailers that are seeking to expand into new international markets. GlobalPost works with various global postal companies and commercial carriers to find the best way to deliver each package, offering the optimal combination of speed, cost, and reliability.

What Is GlobalPost Plus?

GlobalPost offers a range of shipping services, both domestic (Parcel Select Destination Entry) and international (GlobalPost Economy International, GlobalPost Standard International, and GlobalPost Plus). At PostageMaker, we offer GlobalPost Plus shipping labels, so let’s take a closer look at this shipping option.

GlobalPost Plus is a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) service for international shipments from the United States to major international markets (Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom). DDP means that the sender rather than the recipient pays for any customs duties and taxes after the shipment has been processed by the destination country’s customs authority.

With GlobalPost Plus, you can have packages weighing up to 66 lbs delivered in 4–8 business days (depending on the destination country). The maximum value of goods can vary from $700 (Australia) to $2500 (Hong Kong and the UK); free parcel coverage for up to $200 against loss or damage, plus shipping costs, is included. You can take a closer look at the GlobalPost Plus service features on our Rates page.

How Does GlobalPost Plus Work?

When you purchase and print a GlobalPost Plus shipping label, it will have the address of the nearest GlobalPost processing facility (there are fifteen of them in the United States). You ship your package to the GlobalPost Shipping Center, where it is sorted and processed. The shipping center employees will print an international shipping label and customs form using the information you provided while creating a GlobalPost Plus shipping label and attach the label to your package.

Once your shipment is processed, GlobalPost delivers it to the destination country for customs clearance, and then your shipment is delivered to the recipient by the destination country’s postal service. To makes customs clearance easier and expedite the delivery process, GlobalPost coordinates with the customs office of the destination countries to pre-clear shipments. Since GlobalPost Plus is a DDP service, any customs duties and taxes will be billed back to your account upon clearance.
